A Study on Psychodrama Experience of Domestic Violence Victims : Centered on Women Entering Shelter

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the experiences of domestic violence victims who entered the shelter. The data were collected through the demonstration of 10 times psychodrama for 8 residents of domestic violence victims' who entered shelter from July 28, 2016 to September 1, 2016, and analyzed by Giorgi phenomenological method. The categories about domestic violence victims' experience appeared 40 meaningful units, 15 sub-components and 6 components. The 6 components of experience on domestic violence victims' were ‘physical and mental violence affects the body and mind’, ‘despite the husband's affair, participants tried to protect own's family’, ‘physical and psychological symptoms with hwa-byung I hate to kill my husband’, ‘violent change of a child who was shocked by an assault’, ‘hope for happiness and healing away from the needy past through psychodrama’, ‘overcome the past suppressed by violence through psychodrama and plan the future’. This study suggests the necessity of strengthening the legal system for domestic violence and applying the vocational training and social adaptation program to the psychological and social stabilization of the victims of domestic violence.
